Study of Senegal's distribution network
WSP Global, 2018
In June 2018, 3E Eng. was mandated by WSP Global to carry out an optimization study of Senegal’s distribution network. This included the identification, on 74 30kV lines, of projects by 2022 in order to correct network problems (overload and undervoltage), reduce losses and improve continuity of service.
In addition, three reports have been written to support the technical choices made. Two other reports were also prepared to guide the Senegalese power company, Senelec, in its choices for the expansion of its networks at a lower cost and to optimize its capacity of realization in the planning of the distribution networks.
The mandate was successfully completed on July 20, 2018, in a very tight deadline. This allowed to identify some projects to correct under-tensions, several projects which will allow a reduction of the losses of about 2 MW and a noticeable improvement of the continuity of the service.
For all your HV, MV and LV network simulation projects, 3E Eng. has the expertise to carry them out and to identify projects that will ensure, at the right time, the maintenance of good quality and continuity of service to your customers. Also, 3E Eng. will be able to identify any loss reduction project that will allow a quick return on investment.
About CYMDIST for distribution network simulation
As part of this project, 3E Eng. used CYMDIST software for the simulation of Senegal’s electric distribution network. CYMDIST is a software package for the analysis of basic distribution networks of the CYME software. It brings together all the modeling and analysis tools needed to perform various types of simulations related to distribution network planning. The calculation engines support balanced or unbalanced distribution models with various combinations of phases and operating in radial, loop or mesh configuration.
